What Is this Balayage?
Balayage is the Technique of hair painting , and has quickly become one of the most asked for services at the salon. It’s a freehand technique where the color is applied by hand rather than using the traditional foiling or old school cap highlighting techniques. You can apply either a lighter or darker color. The term is based on the French word for ‘sweep away’, or ‘balayer’.
Balayage is the most exciting highlighting color technique that both the colorist and clients fall in love with. With this color placement technique the results are more natural and organic, similar to the random hints of natural color you receive after a summer at the beach.
What Will Work for Me?
The best part about balayage is that is perfect for every hair type and cut. And great for blondes, brunettes and redheads. Results can be subtle , or extreme. You can add dimension and depth that everyone craves. It will give darker hair swirls of cinnamon and carmel tones. Lighter hair brighter blondes. And redheads those hints of cinnamon and richness. You can achieve so many results and customize every piece to best suit you. Using great professional products recommended by your stylist will insure the longevity of your do and keep your hair in the best condition.
Foils or Balayage?
Foils are a great way of placing or taking out color into hair. However foil can come out looking very contrived and uniform. When using foil, a neat clean section is completely saturated with product and placed inside a foil sheet. Resulting in a more dense, thought out pattern.
While balayaging is color painted on in soft brushing strokes across the surface of the hair. Ending up with natural swipes of color that flow from size and variation and play off the hairs natural movement. With balayage you won’t have any signs of demarcation and there will be a more manageable grow-out. Having balayage is also easier on you hair and wont be as harsh as foil highlights.
Who is Ombre?
Ombre is a graduation in shading or color from dark to light or vice versa.
Ombre is a super chic style created by a heavy balayaging placement from the mid-shaft to the ends of the hair. We have been seeing this looks all over the place from the real world to the red carpet. This is a wonderful coloring option for those who want a softer, low maintenance color. People love having ombre because of the tonality and detention it gives the hair. This also works beautifully with every shade of hair color. It makes blondes brighter, brunettes bolder and redheads richer. For the daring, you can add splashes of color with more natural shades to spice things up a bit. The possibilities are endless, and the ability to customize this look for all hair types color and lengths makes Ombre such a great option.
